The engine speed signal is taken from contact 6 on the engine control unit. This signal is required for the rev counter on the dash panel insert and for other control units.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items

• ◆ Adapter set V.A.G 1594
• ◆ Test box V.A.G 1598/22

• ‒ Connect test box V.A.G 1598/22 to wiring harness for engine control unit.

• ‒ → Test for open circuit in wiring between dash panel insert and contact 6 on the test box using current flow diagram.
