Readiness code

The readiness code appears as an 8-digit display in the measured value block 086. Each digit represents a specific part of the emission control system.
When the operation of any of these components is tested via the self-diagnosis, the digit on the display corresponding to this component will change from "1" to "0" (always provided that the test is fully completed).

Thus, if the readiness code is generated after successfully completing the test procedure, it will appear as "00000000" (on vehicles with engine code letters ALZ), or "10100000" for vehicles with engine code letters ANA.

Generally the readiness code is reset if:

  • ◆ the fault memory has been erased,
  • ◆ or if the voltage supply to the engine control unit has been cut off (e.g. connector unplugged or battery disconnected).

If this happens, the readiness code has to be regenerated

When the vehicle is being driven under varying load conditions, the control unit activates the various emission-related tests within a "short trip", and the readiness code is generated automatically. In this case, however, the final diagnostic readouts are not obtained.
