• If the wiring to the sender has an open circuit, a substitute value of 136.8 °C will be displayed.

If an implausible value or a substitute value of 136.8 °C is displayed:

• ‒ Connect test box V.A.G 1598/31 to wiring harness for engine control unit. Do not connect to the engine control unit itself.

• ‒ → Unplug connector from sender=>Fitting locations overview, Page 23-4.

The following wiring connections are to be checked for open circuits and/or short to positive or negative.

• ‒ Rectify any open/short circuit as necessary.

=> Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations binder

If no wiring fault is detected:

• ‒ Replace intake manifold temperature sender (G72).
