Checking signals from and to ABS control unit > < Checking signals from and to automatic gearbox

A4 Mk1

Checking data wire (CAN bus) between engine control unit and gearbox control unit
Checking data wire (CAN bus) between engine control unit and gearbox control unit
The engine control unit and gearbox control unit are linked via a CAN bus. The CAN bus consists of two data wires which transfer information (e.g. engine speed, accelerator pedal position).
–  Connect test adapter -V.A.G 1598/30- or -V.A.G 1598/31- to wiring harness for engine control unit. Do not connect engine control unit → Chapter.
Test the following wiring connections for open circuits and short to positive or negative.
   
Automatic gearbox control unit, contact-V.A.G 1598/30-, socket-V.A.G 1598/31-, socket
. → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations3/466
. → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations3/477

–  Rectify open circuit or short circuit in wiring as necessary → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
