Drive shaft can be identified from circlip at outer joint => Fig.6.

→ Fig.6    Detaching outer joint

• ‒ Clamp drive shaft with soft jaws in vice.
• ‒ Unfasten hose clamps (large and small) and fold back boot.
• ‒ Use circlip pliers -arrow- to unfasten circlip and push back dished washer with spacer.

• ‒ Apply mandrel (brass or copper) at ball hub -arrow- only.

• ‒ When slipping boot onto profile shaft, apply small quantity of grease to bead on profile shaft and carefully fold boot into position.

•     1-    Circlip
•     2 -    Dished washer
•     3 -    Spacer ring (plastic)
•     4 -    Circlip (snap ring)

• ‒ Use plastic-headed hammer to drive joint onto shaft until circlip engages.
