General information
General information
The parking system monitors the area around the vehicle by means of ultrasonic sensors in the rear bumper. Proximity warnings are given by way of an acoustic signal in the passenger compartment.
The rear sensors are deactivated if a trailer is attached to the vehicle and the trailer socket is connected.
On reversing (parking system active), proximity warnings are given as of a distance of less than approx. 150 cm.
Parking system components:
1 - Parking aid control unit -J446-
2 - Rear left parking aid sender -G203-
3 - Rear centre left parking aid sender -G204-
4 - Rear centre right parking aid sender -G205-
5 - Rear right parking aid sender -G206-
6 - Rear parking aid warning buzzer -H15-
Function
t  After switching on the ignition, a self-test is implemented and completed in less than 1 second. The control unit is in operation, however proximity sensing is only activated on engaging reverse gear.
t  If the parking system is ready for operation, a brief acoustic signal sounds (delay of 1 second on vehicles with automatic gearbox on account of P-D shift).
t  An acoustic signal sounds for 5 seconds if a system fault is detected.
t  The intervals between the acoustic pulses become shorter as the distance becomes less. The acoustic pulses sound continuously at distances of less than 30 cm.
t  No warning is given when driving alongside a wall.
