Basic setting
Basic setting
Basic setting must be performed after replacing a headlight, a vehicle level sender or the control unit.
Sequence of operations
l  The vehicle must be in a precisely defined load status.
l  For applicable specifications and input values for load status, refer to → Booklet802.
–  Set the vehicle to a uniform suspension extension status by moving the body up and down several times at each wheel and allowing the vehicle to come to rest.
   
–  Start automatic headlight range control self-diagnosis → Chapter.
Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  From list -1- select function “04 - Basic setting”.

Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  On the keypad -2-, touch key 1 for “Display group 001” and confirm the entry by touching the Q key.

Display on -VAS 5051B-:
1 - Basic setting
2 - Display group 1
3 - Wait
l  Headlights are moved to adjustment position.
–  Wait until next display appears.
3 - Headlight adjustment
l  Headlights are now in adjustment position.
–  Adjust the headlights with the headlight aiming device -VAS 5046- → Booklet802.
  Note
“Basic setting 1” deactivates control mode and “Headlights not adjusted” is entered in the fault memory.

–  To switch to “display group 002”, touch  key.
Display on -VAS 5051B-:
1 - Basic setting
2 - Display group 2
3 - Control position learnt
l  Control unit has now learnt this position as control position.
  Note
Entry in fault memory “Headlights not adjusted” is erased and control mode re-assumed.
–  Terminate function “04 - Basic setting” by touching  key.
