Matching of vehicle keys
Matching of vehicle keys
  Note
t  If new or additional ignition keys are required, they must be matched to the immobilizer.
t  All ignition keys, including those already authorised, must always be re-matched.
t  Re-matching of the remaining vehicle keys is particularly important if a key has been lost, as the lost vehicle key is then no longer authorised to start the vehicle.
t  If it is not possible to match all keys, e.g. during a journey, customers must have this done at a later date at their local Audi dealership.
t  The number of keys already matched is displayed after selecting “Adaption” function in “Channel 21” and in “measured value block 22”.
t  The number of keys already matched is displayed after selecting the adaption function (channel 21).
t  Once a key has been matched, it is interlocked and can no longer be matched to a different immobilizer system.
Sequence of operations
l  All ignition keys available. If there is no old ignition key available → Chapter „Procedure in the event of loss of key“.
–  Insert the first key in the ignition lock and switch on the ignition.
–  Establish the immobilizer identification number by starting immobilizer self-diagnosis → Chapter.
–  Obtain the 7-digit PIN from the applicable regional sales centre/importer on the basis of the 14-position immobilizer identification number.
  Note
The PIN is only valid for one day, after which a new number has to be requested. The PIN is of no use to the customer or other dealerships.

When this display appears, the immobilizer warning lamp -K115- in the dash panel insert lights and the immobilizer has been released.
  Note
t  Heed the instructions given on the display if a fault message appears.

t  3 attempts at entering a correct PIN are immediately possible. The next 3 attempts can only be made after waiting at least 10 minutes. To do so, the ignition must be left switched on and function “06 - End of output” must be selected from list -1- to exit from self-diagnosis.
t  The waiting time after every 3 further incorrect entries is doubled in each case up to a maximum of 255 minutes.
Once immobilizer has been released:

  A01-0133
Display on -VAS 5051B- following successful adaption:

–  Interrogate the fault memory on completion of key matching → Chapter.
If no fault has been stored, the “Key matching” function has been successfully completed.
Ignition key matching is terminated automatically under the following conditions:
t  On reaching the number of keys to be matched.
t  If the ignition is switched on again with an already matched key and left switched on for more than 1 second (fault is stored).
t  If the permitted matching time of 30 seconds per key after switching on the ignition is exceeded (fault is stored).
t  If a fault is stored during the key matching procedure.
