Description of function:

Six function keys have been incorporated in the steering wheel to facilitate operation of the radio and telephone systems during driving. One function button on left and on right side of steering wheel for Tiptronic operation. Furthermore, the multi-function steering wheel is electrically heated.

The steering wheel electronics control the steering wheel heating, convey the commands from the six function buttons to the CAN bus and dim the function key illumination. The steering wheel electronics can not be replaced separately; in the event of a fault, the entire steering wheel must be replaced.

The control unit for the multi-function steering wheel actuates the radio unit, telephone system, dash panel insert and steering wheel heating.

During radio operation, the selected transmitter is indicated on the centre display of the dash panel insert. If, during radio operation, a cassette is inserted, "TAPE <>" appears on the centre display, and during CD operation, the CD number "CD 02" and the relevant track "TR 09" is displayed.
