◆ Does the customer often transport magnetic metallic parts in the vehicle? Possible causes of interference in or on the vehicle => Page 91-147.

◆ Has the customer exposed the vehicle to external sources of interference? => Page 91-147
Important display messages
Note:
Five important display messages are explained below and possible remedies offered.
Display message 1:
SYSTEM- ERROR:

◆ There is no navigation system CD in the CD-ROM drive.
-
‒ Insert a navigation system CD in the CD-ROM drive.
Display message 2:
SYSTEM- ERROR:

PLEASE CHECK CD ROM
|
|

◆ The navigation system CD in the CD-ROM drive cannot be read.
-
‒ Check whether the navigation CD has been inserted correctly. The label must be facing upwards and the CD must only be inserted with the ignition switched on.
-
‒ Check the CD for dirt and, if present, remove carefully with a soft cloth. If you establish that the CD is scratched, use a replacement CD.
-
‒ Check that the push button on the CD-ROM drive is in the "ON" position when the CD is inserted.
-
◆ The CD-ROM drive does not function in some cases.
-
‒ Check that the navigation system control unit with CD-ROM drive is installed horizontally and is firmly seated.
-
‒ Check that the normal function noises are emitted from the CD-ROM drive with the CD inserted and the navigation system activated. If grinding or scratching noises can be heard, replace the navigation system control unit and CD ROM drive => Page 91-258.
Display message 3:
-
◆ The navigation system does not possess any usable location information.
-
‒ Enter the location at a suitable junction => Page 91-250.
Display message 4:
-
◆ The wheel sensor signals emitted by the ABS control unit are faulty.
-
‒ Perform the system test (wheel pulse test) => Page 91-213 and rectify any faults.
-
◆ The navigation system has no/faulty calibration values.
-
‒ Perform the following calibration operation:
Performing wheel calibration => Page 91-196
-
◆ Navigation system magnetic field sender (compass) and/or wiring is damaged.
-
‒ Perform the system test (compass test) => Page 91-213 and rectify any faults.
-
◆ Navigation system aerial and/or wiring is damaged.
-
‒ Perform the system test (interior control unit test) => Page 91-213 and rectify any faults.
-
◆ The satellites are not transmitting any GPS signals.
Note:
It can happen in certain circumstances, e.g. in a military emergency, that satellite signals are not always available.
Magnetic field sender (compass) possibly exposed to interference

◆ Magnetic metal objects (e.g. bicycle, tool box, ladder, steel rims etc.) in vehicle
