t  Connecting wiring harnesses 8E1 970 XXX to multi-pin connector for airbag control unit -J234- → Chapter
t  Assembly work, coding airbag control unit -J234- and interrogating fault memories of control units → Chapter

t  Wiring harness repair set -VAS 1978-
t  Current flow diagrams
t  Fabric tape (for wrapping wiring harnesses), commercially available
  WARNING
t  When retrofitting wiring harness, observe safety precautions for working on airbags → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.69.
t  Observe general instructions for repair work on vehicle electrical system, as well as notes on repairing wiring harnesses, connectors and wiring → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.97.
  WARNING
Before handling the airbag units (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge static electricity by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar.
