Removing undamaged rear window   WARNING Always wear safety goggles and leather gloves when removing window. –  Remove rear lid trim. –  Remove motor for rear window wiper (Rep. gr. 92, Windscreen wiper and washer system). –  Unplug electrical connectors for rear window heating and aerials. –  Pull sealing strip (side) off rear window.

–  Open rear lid. –  Pierce adhesive bead using trimming needle and handle -1- from -V.A.G 1755-. –  Unscrew handle and thread cutting wire into eye of trimming needle.

–  Pull one end of cutting wire -A- into vehicle interior as far as opposite side of the window using trimming needle from -V.A.G 1755- (use pliers and protective gloves).

–  Use plastic wedge to detach sealing lip from window flange and spray with cleaning solution D009 401 04 (lubricant substitute). –  Place end of cutting wire -B- around rear window using tube from -V.A.G 1755-.

–  Pull other end of cutting wire -B- into interior of vehicle as shown using trimming needle and handle.   Note The ends of the cutting wire -A- and -B- must not be allowed to cross over. –  Thread end of cutting wire -A- into reel -V.A.G 1654- and secure.

–  Detach cover -1- for rear lid hinge and cable duct -2- from rear lid hinge -arrows-.

–  Attach end of cutting wire to rear lid hinge.

–  Secure reel -V.A.G 1654- to rear window as shown. –  Press cutting wire in direction of -arrow- while cutting out sections at sides. –  Cut out window at bottom.

–  Move reel to next position and continue to cut out window. –  Press cutting wire in direction of -arrow- while cutting out section at bottom of window. –  Cut out section at side of window. –  Move reel to next position and continue to cut out window.

–  Press cutting wire in direction of -arrow- while cutting out sections at sides. –  Cut out section at top of window. –  Move reel to next position and continue to cut out window.

–  Press cutting wire in direction of -arrow- while cutting out section at top of window. –  Completely cut out window and lift it out of rear lid.
