| t | Removing: |
| – | Remove centre armrest → Chapter. |
| – | Remove cover on gear lever/selector lever → Chapter. |
| – | Remove radio → Radio, telephone and navigation system; Rep. gr.91. |
| – | Remove air conditioning system operating and display unit -E87- → Air conditioning system; Rep. gr.87. |
| – | Detach switch trim -2-. |
| – | Apply handbrake firmly. |
| – | Vehicles with automatic gearbox: Move selector lever to rearmost position. |
| – | Detach caps -4- at front in footwell on right and left side of centre console. |
| – | Unscrew bolts -3- at front in footwell on right and left side of centre console. |
| – | Remove handbrake lever grip → Chapter. |
| – | Remove trim from handbrake lever → Chapter. |
| – | Carefully lift cover -10- out of centre console, starting at the front. |
| – | Slacken off the two cross-head bolts -12- at connecting piece -11- and take out connecting piece. Otherwise, trim cannot be pulled over handbrake lever. |
| – | Remove ashtray (front) → Chapter. |
| – | Remove cigarette lighter → Chapter. |
| – | Unscrew bolts -5 ... 7-. |
| – | On vehicles with centre armrest: Loosen hexagon nut with washer -11-. |
| – | Loosen the two hexagon nuts with washers -12-. |
| – | Pull centre console firmly to rear and remove it from vehicle. |
Note| Centre console is not easy to release from die cast element at dash panel. |

| Install in reverse order of removal. |
