Removing and installing belt buckle for seat-occupied sensor controlling deactivation of front passenger's airbag (country-specific version)
Removing and installing belt buckle for seat-occupied sensor controlling deactivation of front passenger's airbag (country-specific version)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
  WARNING
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Checking seat belts → Chapter
–  Remove seat:
t  Standard seat: vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter, vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter
t  Seat with electric adjustment: vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter, vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter
Removing
  Note
The belt buckle for the seat occupied recognition system controlling the deactivation of the front passenger airbag is only fitted on the front passenger's seat.
  WARNING
The belt buckle for the seat occupied recognition system controlling the deactivation of the front passenger's airbag must ALWAYS be renewed when the front passenger's belt tensioner has been triggered.
Removing
  W00-0427
–  Unplug connector -1- beneath seat.
–  If applicable, take cable out of clip -2- (equipment-specific).
–  Remove bolt -3-.
–  Detach belt buckle -4-.
Installing
  WARNING
The belt buckle for the seat occupied recognition system controlling the deactivation of the front passenger's airbag must ALWAYS be renewed when the front passenger's belt tensioner has been triggered.
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Checking seat belts → Chapter
Install in reverse order of removal.
–  Renew bolt securing belt buckle.
  Note
If the belt buckle for the seat occupied recognition system controlling the deactivation of the front passenger's airbag is renewed, you must complete the form for the seat occupied recognition system stating the serial number and including the bar code sticker of the new belt buckle, and then send the form to the importer.
