Removing and installing seat
  Note
Before disconnecting the battery obtain radio code.
1 - Front seat
t  Removing
  WARNING
Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
–  Move front seat -1- as far upwards and to rear as possible.
–  Pull up and detach assembly cover -4-.
–  Pull down belt end fitting -3- in direction of arrow and detach.
–  Unscrew bolts -2- (2x) at front.
–  Move seat forwards.
–  Remove bolts -2- (2x) at rear.
–  Disconnect the battery earth wire → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
  WARNING
Before handling the airbag units (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge static electricity by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar.
–  Tilt front seat -1- backwards.
–  Unplug connectors → Chapter.
–  Connect airbag adapter → Chapter.
–  Lift front seat -1- out of vehicle with the assistance of a second mechanic.
t  Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Observe the following:
  WARNING
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling the airbag units (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge static electricity by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar.
–  Fit front seat before detaching airbag adapter -VAS 6036-.
  Note
Make sure electrical connectors are fitted correctly (as far as stop) and engage audibly.
–  Plug in connectors at couplings of connector point in floor → Chapter.
–  Switch on ignition.
  WARNING
The battery must be connected with the ignition switched on. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag or belt tensioner) are inexpertly repaired, this may result in unwanted triggering after connecting the battery. There must not be anyone in the vehicle while you are connecting the battery.
–  Connect battery earth wire with ignition switched on → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
  Note
If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, you must interrogate, erase and then re-interrogate the event memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
