Removing and installing toothed segment for seat height adjustment
Removing and installing toothed segment for seat height adjustment
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Removal wedge -3409-
Removing
  WARNING
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling the airbag units (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge static electricity by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar.
–  Remove driver seat height adjustment motor -V245- / front passenger seat height adjustment motor -V246- → Chapter.

–  Use removal wedge -3409- to unclip plastic toothed segment -2- from fitting -1-.

Installing
–  Clip plastic toothed segment -2- into fitting -1-.
–  Make sure clip -A-, collar of plastic toothed segment -2- and locking lugs -arrows B- are properly inserted in holes in fitting -1-.
–  Make sure plastic toothed segment -2- is properly clipped to fitting -1-.
Collar of plastic toothed segment -arrow C- must make uniform contact with fitting -1-.

–  Make sure locking lugs -arrows A- are properly inserted in holes -arrows B- of link plate -1-.
Perform remaining installation in reverse order of removal. Observe the following:
  WARNING
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling the airbag units (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge static electricity by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar.
  Note
Make sure electrical connectors are fitted correctly (as far as stop) and engage audibly.
–  Switch on ignition.
  WARNING
The battery must be connected with the ignition switched on. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag or belt tensioner) are inexpertly repaired, this may result in unwanted triggering after connecting the battery. There must not be anyone in the vehicle while you are connecting the battery.
–  Connect battery earth wire with ignition switched on → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
  Note
If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, you must interrogate, erase and then re-interrogate the event memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
