t | Removing: |
– | Remove seat → Chapter. |
– | Attach seat repair stand -VAS 6136- to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095-. |
– | Attach front seat to seat repair stand -VAS 6136-. |
– | Remove side trim (sill side) → Chapter. |
– | Remove side trim (tunnel side) → Chapter. |
– | Remove backrest cover panel → Chapter. |
Note
The illustration shows the backrest of the front passenger's seat. |
– | Slacken off bolt securing backrest adjustment motor → Fig. |
– | Use screwdriver to prise off spring washer -5- on side of backrest motor (detail view -B-). |
– | Using a hammer and punch, knock shaft -4- through side of backrest frame. |
– | Pull shaft -4- out of backrest frame -1- until backrest adjustment motor is released. |
t | Installing: |
– | Align splines of new backrest adjustment motor → Fig.. |
– | Push shaft -4- through backrest adjustment motor and through backrest frame -1-. |
– | Move seat aside. |
– | On opposite side of backrest adjustment motor, place wooden block -2- beneath shaft -4- (detail view -A-). |
– | Use 11 mm socket attachment -3- to knock spring lock washer -5- onto shaft -4- (detail view -C-). |
– | Tighten bolt on backrest adjustment motor and plug in connector. |
Remaining installation is performed in reverse order of removal. |
Seat with seat memory: |
– | After installing seat, perform basic setting of backrest/seat. |
