t  Locking pliers -VAS 6138-
  W00-1272
1 - Fastening strips (peripheral)
2 - Side airbag
3 - Zip
4 - Protective cover for side airbag
5 - Opening in padding
6 - Bracket
7 - Seat cover
t  Removing:
–  Remove seat bench (rear): vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter, vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter.
–  Remove rear seat backrest → Chapter.
–  Remove head restraints:
t  Head restraints with slide-in locking mechanism → Chapter
t  Head restraint without slide-in locking mechanism → Chapter
–  Remove head restraint guides:
t  Head restraint guides with slide-in locking mechanism → Chapter
t  Outer head restraint guides without slide-in locking mechanism → Chapter
t  Inner head restraint guides without slide-in locking mechanism → Chapter
–  Use screwdriver to prise out fastening strips (peripheral) -1-.
–  Pull lower cover -7- over bracket -6-.
–  Fold over cover -7- in vicinity of side airbag -2-.
–  Unfasten zip -3- at protective cover for side airbag -4-.
–  Pull out protective cover for side airbag -4- through opening in padding -5-.
–  Remove cover and padding from backrest frame.
t  Installing:
Fit cover and padding in reverse order to removal. Observe the following:
–  Close zip at protective cover for side airbag using pliers -VAS 6138-.
