Removing and installing head restraint guides with slide-in locking mechanism > < Items to be checked following complete assembly of backrest
Removing and installing locking mechanism and lock cylinder
   
Removing and installing locking mechanism and lock cylinder
1 - Nut
q   20 Nm
2 - Backrest pan
3 - Lock cylinder
q   Ignition key is required to remove or install lock cylinder.
4 - Bolt
5 - Latch trim with latch lever
q   When backrest is locked, pin projects 1 - 2 mm above latch trim.
q   If rear seat backrest is not locked, pin is approx. 20 mm above latch trim and red mark is visible.

Removing
–  Remove appropriate head restraint → Chapter „Removing and installing head restraints with slide-in locking mechanism “ or → Chapter „Removing and installing head restraints without slide-in locking mechanism“.
   
–  Pull release lever in direction of -arrow- and remove bolts -2- and -3-.

–  Move seat cover clear at following locations:
1 - At locking mechanism
2 - At upper backrest pan
3 - At side backrest pan

–  Counterhold nuts -1- and remove bolts -3-.
–  Remove locking mechanism -2-.

Installing
–  Install backrest cover.
–  Pull pin -1- upwards -arrow- and bring locking mechanism into installation position.
Perform remaining installation in reverse order of removal.
