| – | Remove seat: vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter; vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter. |
| – | Remove backrest: vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter; vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter. |
| – | Press button and remove head restraint -7-. |
| – | Remove head restraint guides -8-: vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter, vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter. |
| – | Prise out wire clips -11- (3x) at top of rear backrest cover panel -1-. |
| – | Detach rear backrest cover panel -1-. |
| – | Prise out peripheral fastening strips -12- (4x). |
| – | Fold over backrest cover -6- and detach. |
| 2 - | Outer frame |
| – | Unfasten clips -14- (4x). |
| – | Prise out outer frame -2-. |
| – | Unscrew nuts -15- (2x) of side airbag -9-. |
| – | Detach side airbag -9- and guide cable through opening. |
| – | Unclip cables for seat heating -16- and side airbag -17- and detach side airbag -9-. |
| – | Cut through cable tie clips -18- (2x). |
| – | Prise out fastening strips and plastic clips → Chapter. |
| – | Detach backrest cover -6-. |
| – | Detach padding -3-. |
| – | Remove backrest heater -5- → Chapter. |
| t | Installing: |
| Install in reverse order of removal. Observe the following: |
| – | When installing backrest cables for side airbag and seat heating and fixing them in position, make sure cables are not subject to strain. |

| 14 - | Clips (backrest frame) (4x) |
| 15 - | Nuts (side airbag) (2x) |
| q | Tightening torque: 5 Nm |
| q | Always renew after removing |
| 16 - | Wire for seat heating |
| 17 - | Wire for side airbag |
| 18 - | Cable tie clips (2x) |
