Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051A-
   
t  Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/1- or -VAS 5051/3-
  WARNING
t  Test equipment must always be secured to the rear seat when road-testing the vehicle.
t  While the vehicle is moving this equipment must be operated by a second person; NOT by the driver.

–  Plug in connector of diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/1- or -VAS 5051/3- at diagnostic connection -arrow-.

–  Switch on the tester -arrow-.
The tester is ready for operation when the selector “buttons” for the operating modes appear on the screen.
–  Switch on ignition.
–  Touch the Guided Fault Finding button on the display screen.
–  Select the following:
t  Make
t  Model
t  Model year
t  Version
t  Engine code letters
–  Confirm the entered information.
Wait until the tester has interrogated all the control units in the vehicle.
–  Press the Go to button and select the option “Function/component selection”.
–  Select “Running gear” on the display.
–  Select “Brake system” on the display.
–  Select “01 - Self-diagnosis compatible systems”.
–  Select “Anti-lock brake system” on the display.
–  Select “Function” on the display.
You will now see displayed all possible functions for the anti-lock brake system installed in the vehicle.
–  Select the function you require on the display.
