Removing and installing parts of ABS/ESP system > < Removing and installing parts of ABS system on rear axle (vehicles with four-wheel drive)
Removing and installing speed sensor on rear axle
Removing and installing speed sensor on rear axle
–  Loosen wheel bolts.
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Remove wheel.
–  Switch off ignition.
   
–  Remove hexagon bolt -1-.
–  Pull speed sensor out of wheel bearing housing.
–  Loosen Torx bolt -3- and pull out cable bracket.

–  Remove hexagon bolt -1-.
–  Loosen Torx bolt -2- and pull out cable bracket.

–  Unclip speed sensor wiring from retainers.

–  Detach the underbody cover -see arrow-.
–  Lift rear seat out of locking device.
  A45-0119
–  Release cable bracket, unplug speed sensor connector -1- and press out grommet (left and right sides are the same).
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence.
–  Before installing, lubricate seal for speed sensor all round with lubricating paste -G 000 650-.
Checking rotor on rear axle
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Remove wheel.
–  Unscrew speed sensor from wheel bearing housing.
–  Check that rotor is not damaged or dirty.
Removing and installing rotor on rear axle
Removing
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Remove wheel.
–  Remove brake caliper → Chapter.
–  Hang up brake caliper on body.
–  Check that rotor is not damaged or dirty.
–  If rotor is damaged, remove drive shaft with rotor and renew outer joint.
–  Removing and installing drive shaft → Rep. Gr.42
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence.
–  Route speed sensor wire back in original position - see removal.
–  Before installing, lubricate seal for speed sensor all round with lubricating paste -G 000 650-.
  Note
t  If rotor is damaged or dirty, remove drive shaft. If damaged, renew outer C.V. joint together with rotor.
t  As replacement part, outer C.V. joint is supplied together with rotor. → Rep. Gr.42
