Bleeding coolant circuit
Bleeding coolant circuit
–  Bleed engine coolant circuit as specified → Cooling; Rep. Gr.19
–  On vehicles with heater coolant shut-off valve -N279-, switch auxiliary heater on and off again after approx. 3 minutes after first starting the engine (in the warm-up phase).
  Note
On vehicles with 4-cyl. engine on which the heater coolant shut-off valve -N279- is not actuated, alter the encoding of the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- for bleeding of the coolant circuit if necessary in such a manner that the heater coolant shut-off valve -N279- is actuated → Chapter (Encoding control unit).
–  Once the engine has reached operating temperature, set maximum heat output on the operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- of the air conditioner/heater (e.g. “Hi” temperature setting).
–  Allow the engine to run for approx. 3 minutes at high idle (e.g. 2300 rpm).
–  Switch on auxiliary heater.
–  Switch off engine (leave ignition switched off).
–  If applicable, wait until the operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- is started up and then set the air conditioner/heater to maximum heat output (e.g. “Hi” temperature setting).
–  Wait approx. 5 minutes (leave auxiliary heater switched on).
  Note
t  Depending on the coolant temperature, the auxiliary heater may not start up (may switch to control interval) → Chapter.
t  It is sufficient for the circulation pump -V55- of the auxiliary heater to run (if the auxiliary heater is in the control interval on account of the coolant temperature).
–  Re-start the engine and allow it to run for approx. 3 minutes at high idle (e.g. 2300 rpm).
–  Switch off auxiliary heater.
–  Switch off engine.
–  Top up coolant if necessary → Cooling; Rep. Gr.19
