Problems with auxiliary heater operation may be encountered in cold weather (usually the only conditions under which the auxiliary heater is switched on or actuated as supplementary heater) if use is made of vegetable-oil or rape-oil methylester as fuel.
Explanation: On account of the physical properties, deposits form during operation with vegetable-oil or rape-oil methylester in the auxiliary heater combustion chamber (in the burner element and at the fuel pipe of the atomiser unit → Chapter). These then cause combustion problems if the vehicle is run for lengthy periods on vegetable-oil or rape-oil methylester (no flame formation and deflagration in the combustion chamber).
