t  Prompt for entering code appears in display zone -1-.
t  Input keypad appears in display zone -2-.
t  Fourth line of display zone -3- indicates currently valid code, with previous code in brackets.
t  Fifth line of display zone -3- indicates workshop code entered in vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051A-.
–  Encode auxiliary heater control unit -J364- in line with version and required type of undervoltage shutoff on the basis of the encoding table → Chapter.

The following appears on the display of the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- after a brief delay.
t  Display zone -1- indicates “Vehicle system encoding performed”.
t  Display zone -2- indicates control unit identification with new code and old code in brackets.
–  After entering code, check shutoff voltage by way of “Adaption” function and enter again if necessary.
t  The following versions may be fitted depending on vehicle equipment:
–  Auxiliary heater with circulation pump -V55- (standard)
–  Auxiliary heater with no circulation pump -V55- (supplementary heater, introduction not yet finalised)
  Note
t  Touch key to return to selection program.
t  The control unit identification depends on vehicle equipment. For precise assignment, refer to → Parts List.
t  There are different versions of the auxiliary heater control unit -J364-. As the type of fuel (petrol or diesel) can be entered by way of the adaption function, control units designed for petrol may have been fitted in vehicles with diesel engine and vice versa → Chapter (Adaption) and → Parts List.
t  If the assignment of the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- (rating plate) differs from the fault reader display, check the adaption → Chapter (adaption channel “05”). If the type of fuel has been altered in this channel, the setting in the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- changes the first time the ignition is switched on (the type of fuel transmitted by way of the convenience data bus system must coincide with that entered in the “Adaption” function).
t  Auxiliary heater versions for petrol and diesel are of different design. An auxiliary heater designed for petrol is therefore not to be fitted in a vehicle with diesel engine or vice versa → Parts List.
