t  Socket -3357-
  Note
t  The vehicle must be horizontal when checking gear oil level. An inspection pit or a 4-post lifting platform is ideal.
t  The oil filler plug is on the left of the gearbox below the speedometer sender; it may be concealed by the heat shield for the drive shaft.
t  Use either multi-point bit -3357- or Allen key (17 mm) (according to plug version) to loosen gear oil filler plug.

–  To check oil level, unscrew oil filler plug -arrow-.
–  Check oil level with a suitable tool (such as a length of wire bent to shape).
t  Specification: oil level 7 mm below bottom lip of oil filler hole.
  Note
The oil can be filled up to the bottom lip of the oil filler hole when servicing.
–  Top up with gear oil if necessary. Specification → Chapter.

–  Screw in oil filler plug.

The plug has a coating which is matched to the material of the gearbox housing: aluminium or magnesium.
