Checking oil level in manual gearbox

Procedure

Note

The prescribed oil level is to be adhered to exactly; the gearbox reacts very sensitively to over-filling.

–	Drive vehicle onto a four-column lifting platform or over an inspection pit (vehicle must be horizontal).

–	Remove oil filler plug -B- (in front of flange shaft).

–	Check the oil level with a suitable improvised tool, e.g. bent wire.

l	Specification: oil level 4 mm ±1 mm below bottom lip of oil filler hole.

–	Top up gear oil if necessary. Specification → Chapter „Code letters, allocation, transmission ratios, capacities“.

–	Tighten oil filler plug.
