Re-determining shim “S5” for positioning tapered roller bearing inner race
   
Re-determining shim “S5” for positioning tapered roller bearing inner race
This adjustment is necessary when renewing the final drive gear set.
This shim -A- is responsible for the proper positioning of the tapered roller bearing inner race (on the pinion shaft) and thus the positioning of the hollow shaft in the gearbox.
  A35-10085
The nominal dimension “A1”-arrow- indicating the required shim thickness for “S5” is marked on the crown wheel of the final drive gear set. In this example: dimension “A1” = 98.86 mm.
Determine required shim from table.
The following shims are available:

  Note
Select correct shims from → Electronic parts catalogue “ETKA”.
–  The determined shim thickness “S5” in this example is 2.70 mm.
