t  Install needle bearings, ball sleeves and roller bearings so the lettering (side with thicker metal) faces towards the installing tool.
t  Install new tapered roller bearings as supplied; do not lubricate additionally with oil.
t  Lubricate all bearings (except tapered roller bearings) with gear oil before installing in gearbox.
t  Heat inner races of tapered roller bearings to approx. 100°C before installing. Press in onto stop when installing so there is no axial clearance.
t  Heat inner races of needle bearings and roller bearings to max. 130 °C.
t  Do not interchange the outer or inner races of bearings of the same size (the bearings are paired).
t  If required, renew the tapered roller bearings on one shaft together and use new bearings from a single manufacturer.
t  Check the double angular contact ball bearing → Item for wear (running noises); pinion shaft remains installed and differential is removed. “The bearing should not catch and should run smoothly when rotating the pinion shaft”.
t  Always renew the double angular contact ball bearing on the pinion shaft when renewing the final drive gear set.
