Pinion shaft wear assessment
Pinion shaft wear assessment
l  Differential removed → multitronic 01J, front-wheel drive; Rep. Gr.39, → multitronic 0AN, front-wheel drive; Rep. Gr.39
l  Oil seal removed → Chapter
   
–  Check the sealing surface of the pinion shaft for scratches, traces of rust or other signs of damage.
l  The sealing surface of the pinion shaft must not be scratched or exhibit signs of wear.
  Note
Freedom from leaks can no longer be obtained even with a new oil seal if the sealing surface of the pinion shaft exhibits any scratches or damage whatsoever.
