Removing and installing coolant pump
Removing and installing coolant pump
Removing
–  Drain off coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove front bumper cover → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. Gr.63.
–  Move lock carrier into its service position → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Remove toothed belt from camshaft sprocket:
t  Vehicles to 04.2003 → Chapter.
t  Vehicles from 05.2003 to 05.2004 → Chapter.
t  Vehicles from 06.2004 → Chapter.
  Note
Before removing coolant pump, cover toothed belt with a cloth to protect against coolant.
   
–  Unscrew bolts -1- for coolant pump and remove coolant pump -2-.
–  Remove O-ring -3-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew O-ring.
–  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring as required.
–  Lubricate new O-ring -3- with coolant additive “G12+”.
–  Fit coolant pump -2-.
l  Installation position: Sealing plug in housing faces downwards.
–  Tighten bolts -1- for coolant pump.
–  Fit toothed belt:
t  Vehicles to 04.2003 → Anchor.
t  Vehicles from 05.2003 to 05.2004 → Anchor.
t  Vehicles from 06.2004 → Anchor.
–  Install poly V-belt → Chapter.
–  Install lock carrier with attachments → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Install front bumper cover → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. Gr.63.
–  Fill cooling system → Anchor.
