Routing of poly V-belt > < Moving lock carrier to service position

  Note
Before removing, mark direction of rotation of poly V-belt with chalk or felt-tipped pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage. Ensure that the belt is properly seated in the pulleys when installing.
   
1 - Poly V-belt
q   Routing of poly V-belt → Chapter
q   Check for wear
q   Do not kink
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
2 - Pulley
q   For poly V-belt
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
3 - Bolt (special type) → Parts catalogue
q   Renew
q   Tightening torque: 20 Nm + 90°
4 - 23 Nm
5 - Engine lifting eye
6 - Belt tensioner/damper for poly V-belt
q   Pivot with open-end spanner to slacken poly V-belt
q   Secure tensioner in position using locking pin -T40098-
7 - 23 Nm
8 - Bush
9 - Bracket for ancillaries
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
10 - 23 Nm
11 - Alternator
q   Removing and installing → Electrical system; Repair group 27
q   To facilitate attachment of alternator, knock back threaded bushes for alternator securing bolts slightly
12 - 23 Nm
13 - Power steering pump
q   Removing and installing → Running gear, front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive; Rep. Gr.48
14 - 45 Nm
q   Apply locking fluid when fitting
q   Locking fluid → Parts catalogue
q   Observe correct tightening sequence → Chapter
15 - Bush
q   2x
16 - Air conditioner compressor
q   Removing and installing → Air conditioning; Repair group 87
17 - 25 Nm
18 - Idler roller for poly V-belt
q   Note installation position
19 - 20 Nm + 90° (1/4 turn) further
q   Renew
