Removing and installing bracket for ancillaries Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Locking pin -T40098-

t  Spring type clip pliers -VAS 5024 A- Removing

–  Pull off engine cover panel -arrows-.   Caution Observe notes on procedure for disconnecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27.

–  With ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth cable -arrow-.   Note Before removing, mark direction of rotation of poly V-belt with chalk or felt-tipped pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage.

–  To slacken poly V-belt, turn belt tensioner/damper in direction of -arrow-. –  Lock tensioner in position with locking pin -T40098-. –  Take off poly V-belt.

–  Remove belt tensioner/damper for poly V-belt with engine lifting eye -arrows-. –  Remove alternator → Electrical system; Repair group 27.

–  Vehicles with auxiliary heater: remove bolts -arrows- securing exhaust pipe for auxiliary/additional heater to noise insulation.

–  Release quick-release fasteners -1- and -2- and take off front noise insulation.

–  Unbolt refrigerant pipe bracket from sump -arrow-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -1- for magnetic clutch on air conditioner compressor.   Caution The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened. –  Unscrew air conditioner compressor from bracket -arrows-.   Note To prevent damage to the condenser and refrigerant pipes/hoses, ensure that the pipes and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent. –  Tie up air conditioner compressor to bottom of vehicle, with lines attached.

–  Detach bracket for ancillaries: bolts -1 … 6-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

–  Tighten bolts in the sequence -1 ... 6-. –  Install alternator → Electrical system; Repair group 27. –  Install air conditioner compressor → Rep. Gr.87. –  Install poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Connect battery. Procedures required → Electrical system; Repair group 27. Tightening torques
