Stress-free alignment of exhaust system
Stress-free alignment of exhaust system
Vehicles without clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer
l  The exhaust system must be aligned when it is cool.
–  Loosen bolt connections of front clamp → Item.
   
–  Push rear section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow- until rear mounting for rear silencer is preloaded by -a- = 7 ... 11 mm.
–  Align rear silencer horizontally.
–  Tighten bolts on rear clamp → Item evenly to specified torque.
l  Tightening torque: M8 -23 Nm-; M10 -40 Nm-
–  Align the tailpipe → Chapter.
Vehicles with clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer
  Note
On vehicles with clamp fitted between centre silencer and rear silencer, it is also necessary to align the centre silencer.
–  Loosen bolts on front clamp → Item and rear clamp → Item.

–  Push front section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that mountings for centre silencer are preloaded by -a- = 5 ... 9 mm.
–  Tighten bolts on front clamp → Item evenly to specified torque.
l  Tightening torque: M8 -23 Nm-; M10 -40 Nm-
  A26-0101
–  Push rear section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow- until rear mountings for rear silencer are preloaded by -a- = 7 ... 11 mm.
–  Align rear silencer horizontally.
–  Tighten bolts on rear clamp → Item evenly to specified torque.
l  Tightening torque: M8 -23 Nm-; M10 -40 Nm-
–  Align the tailpipe → Chapter.
