Removing and installing coolant pump Removing –  Drain off coolant → Chapter. –  Move lock carrier to service position → Chapter.   Note

Before removing, mark direction of rotation of poly V-belt with chalk or felt-tip pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage. –  Turn the tensioner in the direction of the -arrow- to slacken the poly V-belt. –  Remove poly V-belt.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove poly V-belt tensioner. –  Remove toothed belt from camshaft sprocket → Chapter.

–  Remove the centre toothed belt cover -arrows-.   Note t  Vibration damper and toothed belt cover can remain installed. t  The toothed belt should be left in position on the crankshaft sprocket. t  Before removing coolant pump, cover toothed belt with a cloth to protect against coolant.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- for coolant pump and remove coolant pump -2-. –  Remove O-ring -3-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note Renew O-ring. –  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring as required. –  Lubricate new O-ring -3- with radiator antifreeze/anti-corrosion agent. –  Fit coolant pump -2-. l  Installation position: Sealing plug in housing faces downwards. –  Tighten bolts -1- for coolant pump. –  Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) → Anchor. –  Install poly V-belt → Chapter.

–  Install lock carrier with attachments → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50. –  Allow stop for torque reaction support to rest on rubber buffer for torque reaction support under its own weight and tighten bolts -arrows-. –  Install front bumper cover → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.63. –  Fill cooling system → Anchor. –  Check headlight adjustment → Booklet803. Tightening torques
