Removing and installing intake manifold Removing –  Drain off coolant → Chapter. –  Remove coolant pipe (top) → Chapter.

–  Detach vacuum hose -1- from intake manifold. –  Detach air intake hose -3- at intake manifold. –  Unplug electrical connectors -2- and -4-.

–  Detach vacuum hoses -arrows- at intake manifold.

–  Remove retaining plate for turbocharger air recirculation valve -N249--item 1- and secondary air inlet valve -N112--item 2- below intake manifold (unscrew bolts -arrows-).   Note Leave connectors and vacuum hoses attached.

–  Remove support for intake manifold (unscrew bolts -arrows-).

–  Unplug electrical connector -1- at Hall sender -G40-. –  Remove securing bolts -3- of fuel rail and detach fuel rail together with injectors -2- from intake manifold. –  Place fuel rail on a clean cloth at rear in engine compartment.   Note Make sure the removed injectors do not become soiled.

–  Pull out dipstick -1-. –  Unscrew bracket for dipstick guide tube. –  Unscrew and remove intake manifold -arrows-.   Note Block off intake ports in cylinder head with clean rags. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Renew gaskets, seals and O-rings. t  Hose connections and hoses for charge air system must be free of oil and grease before assembly. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. –  Install coolant pipe (top) → Chapter. –  Fill cooling system → Anchor. Tightening torques
