t  Special wrench, long reach -T10070-
Procedure
l  Engine in vehicle.
  Note
All cable ties which are released or cut open when removing must be fitted in the same position when installing.
–  Remove intake manifold → Chapter.
  Note
  W00-1172
Lay a cloth under the hydraulic pressure pipes to catch any escaping hydraulic fluid.
–  Detach power steering pressure pipe at power steering pump, cylinder head and rear coolant pipe -arrows-.
–  Move pressure pipe clear to one side.

–  Unplug electrical connector at Hall sender -G40--item 1- and at Hall sender 3 -G300--item 2-.

–  Remove toothed belt → Chapter.
–  Remove camshaft sprockets on cylinder head (right-side).
–  Remove bolts -1- and take off bracket with idler roller.
–  Remove bolts -2- and take off toothed belt cover (rear right).

–  Unscrew bolts -3- and detach combination valve for secondary air system (together with flange) from cylinder head.
–  Unscrew bolts -1- and -2- at rear coolant pipe on cylinder head.
  Note
t  The coolant pipe remains installed.

Rest-of-world vehicles:
–  Unscrew nut -2- (accessible from above) securing front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold (right-side).

To avoid any damage, the flexible joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°.
–  Disconnect exhaust system at clamp (right-side) -right arrow-.

–  Remove nuts -1- and -3- (accessible from below) securing front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold (right-side).

–  Separate front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.

USA models:
–  Unscrew nut -2- (accessible from above) securing front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold (right-side).

–  Unscrew bolts -1 … 4- and remove front cross-piece.
  Note
  A26-0568
To avoid any damage, the flexible joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°.
–  Disconnect exhaust system at clamp (right-side) -right arrow-.

–  Remove nuts -1- and -3- (accessible from below) securing front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold (right-side).

–  Separate front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.

All models:
–  Loosen cylinder head bolts in the sequence -1 ... 8-.
–  Carefully remove cylinder head.
