Stress-free alignment of exhaust system - vehicles with four-wheel drive
l  The exhaust system must be aligned when it is cool.
   
–  Unscrew bolts -1 … 4- and remove front cross-piece.

Vehicles without clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer
–  Loosen bolts for clamps → Item.
–  Push exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that rubber mounting for centre silencer is preloaded by dimension a = 5 ... 9 mm.
–  Tighten bolts on clamps evenly to 40 Nm.
–  Align tailpipes → Chapter.
Vehicles with clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer
  Note
On vehicles with clamp fitted between centre silencer and rear silencer, it is also necessary to align the centre silencer.
–  Loosen bolts for front clamp → Item and rear clamp → Item.
  A26-0101
–  Push front section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that rubber mounting for centre silencer is preloaded by dimension a = 5 ... 9 mm.
–  Tighten bolts on front clamps → Item evenly to 40 Nm.

–  Push rear section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that rear rubber mountings for rear silencer are preloaded by dimension a = 7 ... 11 mm.
–  Align rear silencer horizontally.
–  Tighten bolts on rear clamps → Item evenly to 40 Nm.
–  Align tailpipes → Chapter.
