Removing cylinder head (right-side)

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Poly-drive key -3452-

Removing

l	Engine in vehicle.

Caution

Observe notes on procedure for disconnecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27.

–	With ignition switched off, disconnect earth strap from battery.

Note

All cable ties which are released or cut open when removing must be refitted in the same position when installing.

–	Remove intake manifold → Chapter.

–	Detach vacuum hose -4- at combination valve.

–	Remove bolts -3-.

–	Unscrew bolt -1- for connecting pipe bracket.

–	Unbolt coolant pipe from cylinder head -2-.

Note

t	The coolant pipe remains installed.

t	Illustration shows engine removed.

–	Remove front exhaust pipe (right-side) → Chapter.

–	Remove toothed belt → Chapter.

–	Take off camshaft sprocket.

–	Unbolt toothed belt cover (rear right) -arrows-.

–	Detach electrical connectors from Hall sender and from camshaft control valve.

Note

Place cloth under pressure pipe for power steering to catch escaping hydraulic fluid.

–	Detach pressure pipe for power steering at power steering pump and at cylinder head cover -arrows-.

–	Remove cylinder head cover (right-side) → Chapter.

–	Loosen cylinder head bolts in the sequence -1 ... 8-.
