Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clamps for hoses up to 25 mm Ø -3094-

Removing
–  Detach the front engine cover panel -arrows 1 and 2-.
  A10-1514
–  Pull off rear engine cover panel -arrows-.
  A10-1515
–  Remove cover -1- on left side of engine compartment.
  A10-1031
–  Clamp off coolant hose -2- using hose clamp -3094- and detach from coolant expansion tank.
–  Plug connection with a suitable plug.
–  Unbolt coolant expansion tank -arrow-.
–  Unplug electrical wire for coolant shortage indicator switch -F66- at expansion tank (bottom) and move expansion tank to one side (coolant hose -1- remains attached).

–  Remove bolt -arrow- at guide tube for oil dipstick.
  Note
The guide tube remains in top section of sump.
  A17-0299
–  Remove bolts -5- and -6-.
–  Unplug electrical connectors -1 ... 4-.
–  Pull out ignition coils -arrows-.
  Note
Use puller -T40039- to remove.
  A15-0869
–  Detach crankcase breather hose -arrow-.
–  Remove cylinder head cover bolts (left-side) in the sequence -15 ... 1-.
–  Remove cylinder head cover.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
  Note
t  Renew cylinder head cover gaskets if damaged.
t  Renew cylinder head cover bolts if gasket is damaged.
–  Clean sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.

–  Slightly coat semi-circular seals -arrows- with oil and insert.
  A15-0877
–  Tighten bolts for cylinder head cover in the sequence -1 ... 15-.
