| Notes on retrofitting radios -R- and CD changers -R41- |
| The connectors on the factory-fitted wiring harness for radio installation are designed for genuine Audi radios -R-. Radios/CD changers with different types of connectors (commercial types) must be installed using adapter cables. |
| When connecting the vehicle speed signal wire, take particular care to avoid short circuits as this could cause vehicle malfunctions. |
| The use of radios/CD changers supplied by other manufacturers may affect the aerial amplifiers. Genuine Audi radios -R- have “remotely powered aerials”, i.e. the voltage for the aerial amplifiers is supplied from the radio -R- via the central wire of the high-frequency cable. You should use the remote power supply adapter from the Audi range. |
| Vehicles which are equipped for the retrofitting of CD changers have a special factory-fitted wiring harness (genuine equipment) for the CD changer -R41-. The connector cable can only be used with genuine Audi CD changers -R41-. |
