Removing
  Note
The instrument cluster must not be disassembled.
–  If instrument cluster (control unit in dash panel insert -J285-) is to be renewed, select the “Replacement” function for control unit in dash panel insert -J285- in the “Guided Functions” mode → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
–  Switch off ignition and take out ignition key.
–  Move steering wheel down and to rear as far as possible; make use of the full range of the steering column adjuster.

The steering wheel is shown removed in the following illustrations to provide a better view.

–  Pull off cover (bottom) -1- at instrument cluster towards rear -arrows-.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows-.

–  Pry off cover (left-side) on dash panel -arrow- using front-end hook -3370-.

–  Reach through opening -arrow A- above fuse carrier and push out instrument cluster in direction of -arrow B-.

–  Release retaining clip for electrical connectors -arrow- and unplug connectors.
Installing
Install in reverse order.
