Vehicles with 4.2 ltr. FSI engine - Audi RS4 Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Support bracket -10 - 222 A-

t  Shackle -10 - 222 A /12-

t  Wing support -T40045-

Removing   Note Re-attach all cable ties unfastened or severed on removal at the same location on installation. –  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth wire at battery → Chapter. –  Detach rear engine cover -arrows-.

–  Detach cover -1- on left of engine compartment.

–  Screw out bolts -arrows-. –  Remove air ducts -1- and -2-.

–  Pull off bonnet seal at lock carrier and wing flanges. –  To avoid damaging the wing mounting flanges with the support bracket -10 - 222 A-, place mud wing compensation plate -T40045- between the wing mounting flange and the panel underneath (both sides).

–  Place support bracket -10 - 222 A- on wing mounting flanges. The spindles are at the rear. –  Engage shackles -10 - 222 A /12- on spindles of support bracket. –  Take up weight of engine slightly with spindles of support bracket.

–  Remove front right wheel. –  Unfasten quick-release fasteners -1-, screw out bolts -2- and detach noise insulation.

–  Unscrew nuts -1- and -2- for anti-roll bar mount on left and right. –  Swivel down anti-roll bar.

–  Detach holder for wiring harness at right engine bracket -arrows-.

–  Unscrew nut -3-. –  Screw out bolts -1- and -2- and detach right engine bracket.

–  Unplug connector at right engine mounting -1-. –  Screw out bolts -arrows- using Allen key with ball end.

–  Unscrew nut -1- for engine mounting at right engine support. –  Detach engine mounting and engine support.

–  Unscrew heat shield for right drive shaft -arrow-.

–  Screw out bolts -2- and -4- at heat shield for starter. –  Unscrew retaining nut -3- and bolt -1-. –  Move starter to front.

–  Unplug connector -2- by sliding locking element to rear -arrow A- and pressing down release mechanism -arrow B-. –  Unscrew nut -1- and detach terminal B+. –  Unscrew earth wire -4-. –  Sever cable tie -3-. –  Detach starter. Installing Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:   Note Re-attach all cable ties in the same locations on installation. –  Install engine console and secure subframe → Rep. Gr.40. –  Install anti-roll bar → Rep. Gr.40. –  Connect battery. Action to be taken → Anchor. Tightening torques
