Removing and installing wiper motor Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Removal lever -80 - 200-

Removing –  Detach rubber seal of plenum chamber cover in direction of -arrow-. –  Remove plenum chamber cover -1- to front.

–  Remove wiper arms -2- and -items 3 and 4- → Chapter.   Caution To stop the cowl panel grille -5- being torn on removal, apply a small quantity of soap solution to the transition between the windscreen and cowl panel grille and pull the cowl panel grille vertically upwards out of the fastening strip, starting at the edge of the windscreen. –  Pull off retaining clips -1- and detach cowl panel grille -5-.

–  Remove cover for electronics box in plenum chamber -arrows-.

–  Pry off wiper linkage -2- from ball head using removal lever -80 - 200-. –  Unscrew the crank from wiper motor. –  Unclip pipe/hose guides at wiper frame. –  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and detach entire wiper frame -1-. –  Unplug electrical connector.

–  Unscrew wiper motor from wiper frame -arrows-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: –  Secure wiper motor without crank to wiper frame -arrows-. –  Plug in electrical connectors at wiper motor.

–  Insert wiper motor with wiper frame and screw in bolts loosely. –  Press wiper linkage as far as it will go in -direction of arrow- and tighten bolt -1-. –  Tighten bolt -2- and then bolt -3-. –  Operate “touch-wipe function” and allow wiper motor to move to end position. –  Switch off ignition and take out ignition key.

–  Align crank -1- with wiper frame. l  α = 2°. –  Hold crank in position and hand-tighten nut -2- so setting is not altered. –  Then brace crank with an open-ended spanner and tighten nut fully. –  Switch on ignition. –  Operate “touch-wipe function” and allow wiper motor to move to end position. –  Check that dimension -α- is attained; re-align if necessary.   Note Illustration shows wiper frame removed. –  Adjust wiper arms → Chapter. Tightening torques
