t  Guide pins -T10093-
  Note
t  No lines or circuits, e.g. for engine cooling, air conditioning etc., are disconnected or opened for the service position.
t  When installing the lock carrier, take care not to trap or crush any wires or hoses at the attachment points.

1 - Lock carrier
q   Service position:
  Caution
For vehicles equipped with adaptive cruise control (ACC), please observe the following:
If the lock carrier is removed and re-installed, or if changes are made to the retainer for the »ACC«, the adaptive cruise control system will have to be adjusted → Wheels, tyres, vehicle geometry; Rep. gr.44.
–  Disconnect battery.
–  Remove bumper (front) → Chapter.
–  Remove lock carrier cover (top) → Anchor.
–  Unscrew bolts securing noise insulation panel (bottom) to bumper.
–  Disconnect Bowden cable for bonnet at coupling unit → Anchor.
–  Unscrew bolts from coolant expansion tank → Anchor.
–  Lift coolant expansion tank out of mounting.
–  Unplug electrical connectors at headlights.
–  On vehicles with charge air cooler, also disconnect pressure hoses.
–  Unscrew bolts at bottom right and left of longitudinal member.
–  Screw guide pins -T10093- into the now vacant outer threads (left and right).
–  Unscrew remaining bolts.
–  Pull lock carrier with coolant expansion tank towards front on guide pins, making sure you do not overstretch wiring.
  Caution
When returning lock carrier to its normal position take care not to crush or trap any wires.
q   Install in reverse order of removal.
q   After installing, check headlight setting and adjust headlights if necessary.
2 - Bolt
q   6 Nm
q   Do not unscrew to move lock carrier to service position.
3 - Bolt
q   Screw guide pins -T10093- into vacant threads on outer right and outer left sides.
q   30 Nm
4 - Bolt

–  Screw guide pins into longitudinal member at retainer (bottom), as shown.

Detaching coolant expansion tank
–  Before lock carrier can be pulled forwards, coolant expansion tank must be detached at nuts -arrows- and lifted out of grommet (bottom).
–  When installing, tighten bolts to 5 Nm.
