Modular wire routing with corrugated tube at front seat
Modular wire routing with corrugated tube at front seat
  Note
With the so-called modular wire routing, the electrical wires between the seat pan and the connector point are inserted in a two-shell corrugated tube.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Removal wedge -3409-
Opening corrugated tube and removing individual wire
  WARNING
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge static electricity by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar.
–  Remove front seat:
t  Standard seat and sports seat (with manual adjustment) → Chapter „Removing and installing front standard seat (with manual adjustment)“.
t  Standard seat, sports seat (with electric adjustment), convenience seat and super sports seat → Chapter „Removing and installing front standard seat (with electric adjustment)“.
–  Attach front seat to seat repair stand -VAS 6136- → Chapter.
  W00-0016
–  Use removal wedge -3409- to open cable retainer -1-.
–  Detach cable retainer from corrugated tube -2-.
  Note
To renew a defective wire or side airbag, open corrugated tube → Electrical system; General information; Rep. gr.97 or → Chapter.
Fitting individual wires and closing corrugated tube
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Take care not to twist any wires when bunching the individual wires and inserting them in the corrugated tube.
  Note
Observe correct installation positions of two-piece corrugated tube in relation to wiring harness and cable retainer in relation to corrugated tube.

–  The start of the corrugated tube -4- should be positioned immediately after clip -2- / cable tie around wiring harness -3-.
–  Make sure two-piece corrugated tube is properly closed over its entire length.
–  After assembling two halves of corrugated tube, position cable retainer -1- as shown and clip into place.
–  Make sure side -arrow A- of cable retainer makes immediate contact with final bead -arrow B- on corrugated tube.
–  Place cable ties, cable retainers and retaining clips in same position as prior to disassembly.
  Note
Make sure electrical connectors are fitted correctly (as far as stop) and engage audibly.
  WARNING
The battery must be connected with the ignition switched on. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag or belt tensioner) are inexpertly repaired, this may result in unwanted triggering after connecting the battery. There must not be anyone in the vehicle while you are connecting the battery.
–  With ignition switched on, connect battery earth wire → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
  Note
If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, you must interrogate, erase and then re-interrogate the event memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
