Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Release tool -VAS 1978/18-
Preparation
–  Switch off ignition (and auxiliary heater).
–  Removing auxiliary heater → Chapter
–  Detaching add-on components of auxiliary heater → Chapter
–  Dismantling auxiliary heater → Chapter
Removing
   
–  Use a commercially available cable tie to pull out the flame monitor -G64--1-.
–  Eject the wires of the flame monitor -G64- from the 14-pin connector (black), contacts 1 and 2.
Installing
Install in reverse order; paying attention to the following:
  N82-10148
–  Attach a new graphite seal -2- to the flame monitor -G64--1-.
  Note
The burrless side of the graphite seal -2- must face the collar of the flame monitor -G64--1-.
–  Insert the flame monitor -G64- in the groove -3-.
  Caution
The sealing surfaces may become damaged.
Heater malfunctioning may result.
Do not use any other sharp-edged tools.

–  Use a screwdriver to press in the graphite seal -in arrow direction-.
