Rules for cleanliness when working on auxiliary heater (and fuel system)
t  Thoroughly clean joints and surrounding areas prior to disconnection.
t  Set down parts removed on a clean surface (use sheeting or paper, not fluffy cloths) and cover over.
t  Carefully cover or seal opened components if repairs are not to be performed immediately.
t  Only install clean components:
–  Leave replacement parts in packaging until immediately prior to installation.
–  Do not use parts that have been stored loose (e.g. in tool boxes).
t  When the fuel system is open:
–  Do not work with compressed air.
–  Do not move the vehicle.
–  Do not start the engine.
–  Do not switch on the auxiliary heater (also applies to switch-on via the guided fault-finding “Basic setting” function) → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information systemVAS 5051/, “Guided fault-finding function”.
