Removing and installing coolant pipe (front) - engine code CAPA

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Counterhold tool -3036-

t	Pin wrench -3212-

t	Puller -T10320-

t	Puller -T40064-

Removing   Note Fit all cable ties in the original positions when installing. –  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.

–  Remove air cleaner housing → Rep. gr.23. –  Drain coolant → Chapter. –  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Remove pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler -V400- → Chapter.

–  Remove toothed belt for high-pressure pump → Rep. gr.23. –  Unscrew nut -1- for high-pressure pump shaft using counterhold tool -3036-. –  Remove damper weight.

–  Remove toothed belt sprocket for high-pressure pump using puller -T40064-.

–  Loosen bolt -1- for toothed belt drive sprocket approx. 2 turns using counterhold tool -3036-.

–  Remove toothed belt drive sprocket using puller -T10320-.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove toothed belt cover (rear).

–  Remove bolts for coolant pump pulley -arrows- (counterhold with pin wrench -3212-).

–  Detach coolant hose -arrow- (lift retaining clip). –  Remove nut -2-. –  Move electrical wiring on front coolant pipe clear. –  Pull front coolant pipe forwards out of cylinder block.   Note Disregard -item 1-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: l  Tightening torque → Chapter „Coolant pipes - exploded view“   Note t  Fit new O-ring. t  Hose connections and air pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before assembly. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue. t  To ensure that the air hoses can be properly secured at their connections, spray rust remover onto the worm thread of used hose clips before installing. –  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring. –  Lubricate O-ring with coolant and slide onto coolant pipe. –  Connect coolant hose with plug-in connector to coolant pipe → Fig.. –  Install poly V-belt pulley for coolant pump → Chapter. –  Install toothed belt drive sprocket → Chapter. –  Install toothed belt drive sprocket and toothed belt for high-pressure pump → Rep. gr.23. –  Install pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler -V400- → Chapter. –  Install poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Install air cleaner housing and exhaust gas pressure sensor 1 -G450- → Rep. gr.23. –  Fill up with coolant → Anchor.
