Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A-
  W00-0120
t  Engine bung set -VAS 6122-
Removing
Observe safety precautions → Chapter.
Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
  WARNING
Safety risk due to escaping reducing agent.
To prevent large amounts of reducing agent from escaping when the metering line is opened, wait until the reducing agent has been drawn back automatically → Anchor.
–  Drain passive tank for reducing agent → Chapter.
  WARNING
Reducing agent can cause skin irritation.
t  Avoid contact with the skin and eyes. Wear gloves and safety goggles.
t  If your skin has come into contact with reducing agent, rinse it off with soap and water.
t  If reducing agent gets into your eyes, rinse them out with water for several minutes.
t  Do not breathe in or swallow reducing agent.
t  If you have swallowed reducing agent, rinse your mouth, drink lots of water and consult a paramedic or doctor immediately.

  W00-10435
Hold a clean cloth under the separating point to catch escaping reducing agent.
–  Unclip transfer line -3- from bracket and detach it from transfer pump for reducing agent -V436- (press release tab).
–  Seal off open pipes/lines and connections with clean plugs from engine bung set -VAS 6122-.
–  Unplug electrical connector -2- and move electrical wire clear.

Disregard -item 1-.

  WARNING
Risk of accident caused by weight of passive tank.
When removing passive tank, support it with engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A-.
–  Position engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- below vehicle to support passive tank.

–  Remove bolts -1 ... 4-.
  Note
For greater clarity the passive tank is shown without the engine and gearbox jack.
–  Lower passive tank -5- about 100 mm using engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- (guide tank down by hand).

Lay a clean cloth under the separating point to catch escaping reducing agent.
–  Press release tab and disconnect filler line -1- and breather line -2-.
–  Seal off open pipes/lines and connections with clean plugs from engine bung set -VAS 6122-.
–  Continue lowering passive tank using engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- (keep guiding tank down by hand).
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
l  Tightening torques → Chapter „Passive tank for reducing agent with attached components - exploded view“
–  Check that lines are clipped onto passive tank.
–  Adapt learnt value after draining reducing agent or renewing components → Chapter.
